david rann: biography

David Rann was born in Wordsley, Stourbridge, England in 1965 and grew up in Cradley Heath and Netherton in the Black Country.

David spent much of his career in engineering work until he moved to southern Spain in 1997. Here he revived the "Mystic Image Company" - a project started in England, selling hand-printed black and white photographs.

On his return to England in 2001 he briefly returned to engineering before commencing a full time Photography degree course in 2004. He graduated in 2007 with a BA (Hons) Photography First Class from the University of Wolverhampton and then began a part time MA Fine Art at Wolverhampton in the same year. He completed the MA in 2009.

He now teaches Photography part time at Birmingham Botanical Gardens (see "teaching" page) and at Fotofilia (and previously Stratford-upon-Avon College). He is a member of the "5 Go Shooting" group of photographers.

He is also a keen musician, playing bass guitar in various bands inculding "Rebel Soul", "Silverball", "Who's the Kinky Faces" and "Strangetown".

David runs Fotofilia, a photography gallery/studio/training complex in Birmingham.
