Melanocortin-1

The Melanocortin-1 Receptor gene, sometimes known as the "ginger gene", is predicted by some scientists to die out in the next century. Only a male and female carrying the gene can produce a red-haired child and only 2-4% of the world's population carries the gene.

This series of photographs is a celebration of the gene's physical traits - red hair (of all shades), freckles, pale skin etc.

I want the world to see, as I do, the beauty of this historically much-maligned variant of human coloration.

The BBC have highlighted my search for red-haired models: read the article here... http://www.bbc.co.uk/blackcountry/content/articles/2008/05/14/ginger_models_feature.shtml

See Exhibitions page to find out where these photographs can be seen.

Also, did you know there's a "RedHairDay" in the Netherlands? Over 2000 redheads in one small town! Follow the link from my Links page to find out more.
